In a series we are doing about the highest-paying jobs in India, this is article number #2. The first post was about jobs that pay more than 1 crore a month.
Now, making a mark in any of the professions mentioned in that list is extremely difficult. The high barrier to success is what makes the salaries rise to 1 crore.
But the careers mentioned in this post would be slightly easier to attain. These are professions in which you would be (after some hard work) able to earn 10 lakh rupees per month.
Disclaimer: This amount of money (10 lakh rupees) is only earned by those who are at the top of their field. Reaching that pinnacle of success may take some time. So don’t expect that your starting salary is going to be 10 lakh per month. But if you are the 1% of the 1% in your industry, you can easily earn this amount per month.
Stock Market Investor
It is completely feasible for one to earn more than 10 lakh rupees in the stock market per month. However, a high level of expertise is required in order to do this. Another possible barrier to entry is capital. You would need a decent amount of money to invest in the stock market in order to earn this much. If we assume that you are amazing at share-trading, and can get a 10% return on your investment per month; then you would need to invest 1 crore in order to earn 10 lakh.
But even if you do not have this kind of money, you can still earn returns that are upwards of 10 lakh per month. It would just take a longer amount of time to get there.
Investment Banker
Essentially, investment bankers are financial advisors to corporations and, in some cases, to governments. They help their clients raise money. That may mean issuing stock, floating a bond, negotiating the acquisition of a rival company, or arranging the sale of the company itself. If you make a name for yourself as an investment banker, you can easily expect to earn upwards of 10 lakh rupees a month.
However, it is a very rigorous process. Becoming an investment banker is quite difficult, and you need to have an affinity for big number. A great command of economics and mathematics is also a must. We have talked about how you can become an investment banker in this post.
Celebrity Fitness Trainer/Stylist
This is probably the most unconventional career path in this list. And it is also one where you would require tremendous amounts of luck and patience.
But think about it for a couple of moments. If you are a celebrity fitness trainer who has twenty clients from Bollywood that you have to train everyday, wouldn’t you easily be making north of 10 lakh rupees a month? Or if you are a celebrity stylist of the ilk of Manish Malhotra or Sabyasachi, wouldn’t 10 lakh rupees be equivalent of chump change to you?
There is one thing to note though, when we talk about these professions. You can only get to this position in these two fields if you have the perfect combination of talent, patience, connections, work ethic, and luck.
Top level management
CEOs of even medium sized private companies earn more than 10 lakh rupees a month. Like we mentioned in the previous article of this series, if you become the CEO (or equivalent position in top level management) of a multinational company, you can expect your monthly salary to be in crores.
However, the path to becoming a CEO requires a lot of effort. You would need a management degree from a top quality university (think of the IIMs), along with a lot of work experience in your industry. But the moment that you become a CEO, you can live a pretty luxurious life.
Celebrity Lawyer
If you become a hot-shot lawyer that takes on cases for businessmen, industrialists, celebrities and politicians, you are going to be making truckloads of money. Much more than 10 lakh rupees per month.
The people you are going to be fighting for would have a lot of disposable income. Apart from this, law is usually a life-or-death matter. People are willing to spend enormous amounts of money to win a court case. And all that money would be coming to you.
But there is one thing that you should be aware of before you try to become a celebrity lawyer. It is going to take a lot of time before you are able to establish enough of a reputation that people pay you this much. So be ready for the grind.
Plastic Surgeon
Wait a second, Plastic surgeons earn more than 10 lakhs a month?
Yes, famous plastic surgeons and cosmetologists earn upwards of 10 lakh rupees a month. How? Well, think about it. The main customers of plastic surgeons are Bollywood people and the supermodels of our country. This is a demographic which has a lot of money to spend. And this is also a demographic that likes to spend a lot of money in order to make their bodies look better.
Thus, if you become the person to go to for enhancements to one’s body, you will be easily able to earn more than 10 lakh rupees a month.
Sportsperson
If you are at the top of your game in the field of sports, you can expect to earn upwards of 10 lakh rupees a month. Now, you may be thinking that only cricketers earn this much (actually, they earn much more; we talked about that in one of our posts), but this is not at all true. Think Saina Nehwal, PV SIndhu. If you are a household name, you are going to get advertisements and endorsement deals. This is where the major chunk of 10 lakh rupees is going to come from.
You will also earn a decent amount of money from playing and winning in competitions, but that is only going to be a small percentage of your entire income.
